The BBC is now exploring a system that will deliver personalized television to viewers across the U.K. Reports indicate that in-house hardware will modify signals to add individual details to help provide a more customized experience. This could include changing the music to suite viewers’ tastes or inserting additional plot information, among other things.

What I’m looking for is crowd sourced government. Our representatives don’t vote on our behalf anyway. Why don’t they just write the laws and let us all vote on them. The giant pool is bound to come up with the “right” decisions. Let the internet create a real democracy, instead of just the Republic or Oligarchy that we have now.

I teach a class at University of North Carolina’s Community Classroom Series called “Building the Bonds of Friendship”. One unexpected, and gratifying, aspect for many participants is the transgenerational connections that develop.

And, as a midlife coach, I appreciate your opening up a view of the middlescence struggle as one that may parallel the “break away” in adolescence…lots to ponder there.

In fact, one of your books is recommended reading. Please get the word out nationally that how we view aging and the perception of “old age” in a holistic sense (physically, psychologically, socially, functionally) demands a restructuring of this concept. The definitiion “old age” is evolving continuously as people live longer and healthier lives. Further, in many cases, the notion of intergenerational groups are becoming the norm rather than age-specific groups.
