Is eye motion going to replace the mouse and touchscreen?
New technologies are starting to enable us to control tech devices with minimal effort—recently, we noted the advent of voice- and gesture-controlled remote controls. A little further on the horizon is the prospect of using eye motion to manipulate screens. Stockholm-based Tobii Technology has developed a prototype Gaze interface for Windows 8 that allows users to browse slides, navigate pages and even zoom in with their eyes. The company also offers an update to the traditional Asteroids arcade game, with players aiming and shooting with their eyes. The technology, which may not be on the market for a few years, might also be used to detect and prevent drowsy driving.
