Book Club 2.0, one of our 100 Things to Watch in 2012, is the idea that we’ll be seeing more mass-reading experiences enabled by Web tools like Twitter, Skype, YouTube, etc. Now Penguin is launching a tweet-based monthly book club, picking a title and asking followers to comment using #readpenguin. “Mini book club meetings” take place during the month, and a Twitter talk with the author at month’s end.

Reading is also getting more social with the advent of e-readers like the Kobo Vox, which allows users to see comments that others have made about a book or chat with fellow readers, and apps like Subtext. —Marian Berelowitz
