One of our 100 Things to Watch in 2013 is “Blocking Social Media Bores”—using Web browser extensions (Unbaby.me, for instance) to replace unwanted content like never-ending baby pictures with alternatives like images of kittens or bacon. As we noted, this offers lighthearted opportunities for brands. Now Jell-O has picked up on the idea with Baltimore Blocker, for those saddened by San Francisco’s Super Bowl loss. The Chrome extension “replaces all words and images related to Baltimore with stuff you’d much rather see. Like puppies. It’s just the thing for blocking painful reminders of Sunday’s defeat.” Jell-O’s campaign to console San Franciscans also includes a “Pudding Drop” in the city.
